As we enter 2022, Instagram has made some major changes to their platform. It can be hard for business owners who are busy and don’t have the time to keep up with these all these updates & new features.

I’ve found that there are 5 key steps when creating an Instagram Marketing Strategy. Keep reading to help build yours!

1. Make A List Of All Your Objectives

You can’t hit your target if there isn’t one! Make sure to answer questions like: What do I hope to achieve with my Instagram marketing strategy? Why am i doing this? How will it benefit me and my business long term?

It will help you to write down all of your objectives. This way, you can keep track and reevaluate as time goes on. If something isn’t working, it’s important to stop doing that & pivot!

2. Determine What Type Of Content Works Best With Each Instagram Feature

Not all content will work on every social media platform. For example, a long form blog post might not be the best thing to post on Instagram.

However, you could take that piece of content & repurpose it as a short video or a graphic with text that better suits the platform! You’ll need to experiment to see what type of content gets you the most engagement.

Each feature has its own quirks and it’s important to post content that will resonate with your audience.

In 2022, Try Experimenting With Reels, Lives, Stories, IGTV, Static & Carousel Posts.

Knowing what content works best on each social platform will help you create a strategy that allows you to show up consistently without feeling like you’re talking to a brick wall.

3. Take Inventory Of Your Current Assets

What do you currently have that you can use for your Instagram marketing strategy? This could be anything from a high-quality video to a blog post.

Think about ways to repurpose this content so it will work well on Instagram. For example, if you have a short video, consider breaking it up into several shorter videos that can used as stories.

Go Live? Upload a replay of that video to your IGTV to let it live longer than the stream itself.

Even your old captions can easily be chopped up, put into Canva quote templates & scheduled for future dates. Make your existing content work for you.

4. Set Priorities, Define Success Metrics & Set Deadlines

This is where the rubber hits the road! Once you have a plan in place, it’s important to set some concrete goals and deadlines. This will help keep you accountable and on track to achieving your objectives.

Determine what success looks like for you. Are you looking to increase website traffic? Gain more leads? Increase brand awareness?

Define these metrics upfront so you can track your progress and adjust as needed.

5. Create A Plan & Start Executing

Now it’s time to put all of this into action! Start creating content, targeting your audience, showing up consistently & tracking your progress.

Make sure to revisit your strategy regularly and make changes as needed. The key is to be flexible and always be learning!
